FAQ

What is an AP degree and how is it different from a Bachelor?

An AP (Academy Profession) degree is a 2-year practice-oriented program that qualifies you directly for the job market. It is shorter and more hands-on than a traditional Bachelor. After completing the AP degree in Multimedia Design, you can continue with the 1.5-year Digital Concept Development top-up program to earn a full Bachelor degree. So in total, you can have a Bachelor in 3.5 years - with real work experience built in.

Do I need programming experience to apply?

No! The Multimedia Design program teaches you everything from scratch. You will learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and work with AI tools - all starting from zero. What matters is your motivation and creativity, not your prior coding experience. By the end of the program, you will be building professional websites and digital solutions.

What are the chances of getting a job after graduation?

Excellent! The digital industry in Denmark is booming, and multimedia designers are in high demand. Many students receive job offers during or immediately after their internship. Typical roles include UX Designer, Frontend Developer, Digital Designer, E-commerce Developer, and Web Developer. The academy tracks employment rates and publishes them - the numbers are consistently strong.

What is the teaching style like?

BAAA uses a "hands-on" approach: you learn by doing. Every semester includes real company projects, group work, and practical assignments. Lecturers come from the industry and bring current knowledge. The atmosphere is informal and collaborative - you work in small teams, present your work to real clients, and build a professional portfolio throughout the program.

Can I do my internship abroad?

Yes! While many students choose to intern at Danish companies (which is great for networking and potential job offers in Denmark), you can also do your internship abroad. The academy has connections with companies across Europe and beyond. You can also go on an exchange semester or join a summer school as part of your program.

Finding your home in Aarhus

Great news: Aarhus municipality offers a housing guarantee for all new students starting in the autumn semester. This means you are guaranteed a student room through Student Housing Aarhus if you apply on time. Business Academy Aarhus does not have its own dormitories, but the city has an excellent student housing system that takes care of you.

Apply for housing as soon as you receive your admission confirmation - the earlier you register, the better your options. Aarhus is a compact, bike-friendly city where most student housing is within 30 minutes of campus.

Your main housing options

Option 1: Student Housing Aarhus - the main platform for affordable dormitory rooms across the city. Registration is free, and you can sign up even before your admission is confirmed. Rooms are allocated based on waiting list seniority, so register as early as possible. Use the Housing Guarantee for priority access.

Option 2: Basecamp by Xior - modern, fully furnished student apartments with a gym, cinema, and community events. More expensive than traditional dorms, but brand new and hassle-free (no waiting list - book online).

Option 3: Private market - you can also rent a room or apartment independently through websites like boligportal.dk or akutbolig.dk. Be careful of scams - never pay before viewing the room and signing a contract.

Rent and practical details

Typical monthly rent for a student room in Aarhus is 2,000-5,000 DKK depending on size, location, and whether it is furnished. You will need to pay a deposit (usually 1-3 months rent) before moving in. Most dormitory rooms are unfurnished, so budget for basic furniture or look for furnished options at Basecamp.

Remember: if you work at least 10-12 hours per week, you qualify for the Danish SU grant (approximately 7,426 DKK/month before tax), which easily covers rent and living expenses.

FAQ

Is housing guaranteed for international students?

Yes! Aarhus municipality guarantees housing for all new students starting in the autumn semester through Student Housing Aarhus. You must apply for the housing guarantee after receiving your admission confirmation. The guarantee gives you priority access to reserved rooms. Apply early for the best selection!

When should I start looking for housing?

Register on Student Housing Aarhus as soon as possible - you can sign up even before being admitted. The waiting list is seniority-based, so every day counts. For the housing guarantee, apply immediately after receiving your admission confirmation. You must be at least 18 years old when the accommodation contract is signed.

How do I avoid housing scams?

Unfortunately, scams exist in Aarhus - especially around semester start. Follow these rules: never pay before physically viewing the room, never use cash (bank transfers can be traced), always demand a written contract, and be suspicious of offers that seem too cheap. Stick to official platforms like Student Housing Aarhus and Basecamp for the safest experience. If an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is.

What if I arrive before my housing is ready?

If your long-term housing is not available when you arrive, consider short-term options like Roberta's Society (youth hostel in Aarhus), Airbnb, or couchsurfing. These are more expensive than regular rent, so try to secure your permanent housing before arrival. You can also join the BAAA international Facebook group to ask current students for tips.
